About The Position

The Journeyman Computer Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining software applications that support modeling, simulation, and engineering systems. This role works from technical specifications provided by software developers, engineers, or program stakeholders and may assist in analyzing user needs and designing effective software solutions. The position supports Navy and DoD programs and requires adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Military Standards, and Navy policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Modeling & Simulation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer programming.
  • Experience using software development and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience in engineering and scientific disciplines, including:
  • Modeling and Simulation
  • Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)
  • High Level Architecture (HLA)
  • Systems design
  • Mathematical model development
  • Ability to apply Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Military Standards, and Navy policies.
  • Must meet SECNAV M-5239.2, Appendix 4 requirements

  • Proficiency Level: Journeyman
  • Must work onsite 100% onsite
  • The candidate must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain application code, scripts, and forms.
  • Implement software solutions based on specifications provided by software developers, engineers, or technical leads.
  • Assist in analyzing user requirements and translating them into functional software solutions.
  • Develop applications to store, retrieve, and manage documents, data, and information.
  • Support engineering and scientific software development efforts involving modeling and simulation.
  • Participate in systems design, math model development, and simulation architecture development.
  • Work with Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) frameworks.
  • Utilize software development and diagnostic tools to test, debug, and optimize applications.
  • Ensure software development complies with applicable Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Military Standards, and Navy policies.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to software design, development, and testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, and stakeholders to support program objectives.
