About The Position

Job Description • Responsible for making repairs on all types of interior finishes; matching the paint colors and finishes of walls, ceilings and floors. Inspects, maintains, and performs repairs to interior and exterior of facilities. • May be required to assist with estimating, material takeoffs, project specifications, and maintaining files of specifications, blueprints, and diagrams generated from field investigations. • Assists with the update of as-built drawings. • Inspects buildings, facilities and equipment to ascertain needed repairs; makes or recommends repairs or alterations. • Applies various types of paint, such as primers, sealers or oil, water, rubber, vinyl or cement based paints. • Applies cement and tape to the joints of walls, partitions and ceilings constructed of sheetrock (plasterboard). • Prepares parking areas for striping, preparing and striping center lines on streets and operating various equipment for the application of painted lines. • Cleans and installs vinyl, ceramic, rubber, and asphalt tile and sheet vinyl floor coverings. This cleaning process may require sanding, filling in imperfections, or etching the area to be covered, depending on the condition and composition of the floor. • Completes the preparation for finishing surfaces with putty or other filler material and applies primers, sealers and proper finish products with brush, roller, airless and conventional spraying in the following instances: o Prepares interior wall and ceiling surfaces which may be constructed of sheetrock (plasterboard, plywood, insulation board, masonite, concrete or lath and plaster). o Prepares exterior wall surfaces, door and window frames, which may be constructed of wood, stucco, concrete or metal, by wire brushing, scraping, sanding or washing with detergent and rinsing with tap water. Preconditions wood, steel, aluminum or masonite interior or exterior doors. o Cleans interior or exterior wood or concrete floor by washing with TSP or scraping or sanding. Preconditions and paints interior of elevators. Prepares interior and exterior hand railings by washing, scraping or sanding. Prepares the surface of lamp posts and exterior benches by washing, scraping or sanding.
