About The Position

Job coaches will maintain effective work placement sites for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities working in various communities in the Supported Employment Program. Job coaches will work on reaching and achieving goals of the organization and supported employment program. The Supported Employment Program includes individual and/or group placements. Job coaches report directly to the Program Innovation Leader and Director of Programs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check.
  • Hold a current California driver’s license.
  • Can lift a minimum of 45lbs.
  • Strong communication and teambuilding skills.
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible to changing State and program requirements.
  • Able to be patient and work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Strong computer skills and able to navigate programs for data entry and recording.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 year of experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Able to successfully complete organizational provided Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements direct instruction plan for participants in the Supported Employment Program, including specific training and adjustment to their work environments.
  • Ensures program staff are meeting program objectives and meeting outcomes for program participants as described and planned for in IPP.
  • Actively engage with participants in daily activities that support a person-centered approach and supports the participant’s individual program goals.
  • Ensure current records of program activities, calendars, and documentation are maintained.
  • Is available to participants, families and employers for feedback, updates, problem solving and crisis intervention.
  • Maintains all on-the-job records. Evaluates instructional plan and monthly progress, making revisions whenever necessary. Obtains information from employer on job performance.
  • Develops adaptive methods of training and instruction based on the participant’s needs.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all program participants, at all times, by following organizational policies, procedures and responding promptly to any concerns or incidents.
  • Works with employers to fully integrate participants into the work environment, including modification of standard training and instruction, building relationships with co-workers, and adjusting to the workplace.
  • Train participants to use public transit as needed.
  • Participates in case reviews and goal planning for each worker.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned.
