The Role The Jira Subject Matter Expert (SME) will play a key role in the administration, configuration, and strategic use of Jira across engineering and enterprise teams. This role supports the development of scalable workflows, governance standards, and integrations that enable efficient issue management and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Engineering, IT or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator or SME
  • Strong knowledge of Jira project types, schemes, and automation
  • Experience with Jira REST APIs and scripting tools (e.g., ScriptRunner)
  • Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or ITSM methodologies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Nice To Haves

  • Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-120, ACP-610)
  • Experience with Jira Service Management and Confluence
  • Background in systems engineering or enterprise tool governance

Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure Jira Software and related Atlassian tools.
  • Design and maintain custom workflows, fields, screens, and automation rules.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement Jira solutions.
  • Establish and enforce Jira governance and change control processes.
  • Support integrations with Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, and other enterprise tools.
  • Provide user training, documentation, and support.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Stay current with Atlassian product updates and best practices.
