About The Position

We are seeking a Jira Administrator to serve as the day-to-day steward of our existing Jira Data Center and Confluence environment. This role is responsible for maintaining system health, managing users, and executing against a defined backlog of enhancements and improvements. Our Jira Data Center instance is already established and in active use for fleet management insights and operational tracking. The near-term focus of this role is stability, usability, and incremental improvement ensuring Jira works reliably for current users while methodically enhancing workflows, fields, and reporting as needs evolve. Over time, this role may grow to take on broader responsibilities as Jira expands into additional workstreams. Product or platform skills are not required on day one and can be developed in-role.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience administering Jira Data Center in an active production environment
  • Working knowledge of: Projects, issue types, workflows, screens, groups and permissions
  • Filters, dashboards, and basic reporting
  • Comfort working through a prioritized backlog of configuration changes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Jira Data Center for operational, sustainment, or non-software teams
  • Familiarity with Confluence administration and page structuring
  • Experience with Jira automation and marketplace plugins
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users
  • Exposure to product, operations, or systems thinking
  • Interest in growing into broader ownership of work management tools over time
  • Experience with Jira plug-ins that may be used to enhance the environment

Responsibilities

  • Administer Jira and Confluence on a day-to-day basis, including: User onboarding, offboarding, and permission management
  • Project and space maintenance
  • Issue types, fields, workflows, and screens
  • Ensure system stability, performance, and consistent configuration practices
  • Own and work through a backlog of Jira enhancement requests, such as: Workflow modifications and creation
  • Field customization, additions or cleanup
  • Permission adjustments
  • Automation rules
  • Dashboard and filter improvements
  • Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements and implement changes efficiently
  • Balance speed of delivery with maintainability and consistency
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Jira-related questions and issues
  • Troubleshoot common user problems and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Provide light guidance to users on best practices and standard usage
  • Maintain basic documentation in Confluence for common processes
  • Provide Jira onboarding training to both internal and external customers
  • Help maintain order and consistency as new users and requests are added
  • Identify opportunities to reduce duplication, unused fields, or confusing configurations
  • Apply simple standards to prevent Jira from becoming cluttered or fragmented
