B&A is looking for an Java/Jakarta and Database Developer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. The developer will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications utilizing Java/Jakarta frameworks and relational database technologies. This role supports system enhancements, production sustainment, and data integrity for mission-critical applications in support of the Defender Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field
  • Or A Bachelor’s degree in any field combined with a relevant professional certification, such as: Oracle Certified Associate Java Programmer (OCP), Informix 4GL Developer, ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP)
  • Proficiency in Java/Jakarta-based application development
  • Strong experience working with relational database design, development, and querying
  • Ability to analyze and implement system requirements and user stories in an Agile environment
  • Experience designing and developing database architectures to support application requirements
  • Skill in developing and integrating user interfaces, business logic, and database components
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and experience addressing and mitigating system security vulnerabilities
  • Experience conducting unit testing to validate functionality against acceptance criteria
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems to maintain and manage system baselines
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve application issues, including enhancements and production defects
  • Experience supporting system data requests, including reporting and ad hoc queries
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced Agile environment
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure data protection, integrity, and program confidence
  • US Citizen, eligible to obtain a clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Function effectively within an Agile software development environment
  • Analyze system requirements and user stories to support implementation activities
  • Design and develop database architecture that supports system requirements
  • Design and develop user interfaces and business logic to integrate applications with databases
  • Address existing system security vulnerabilities and ensure new development does not introduce security risks
  • Conduct unit testing to validate that developed capabilities meet acceptance criteria defined in user stories
  • Ensure the system baseline is version controlled in accordance with configuration management practices
  • Maintain Defender Program confidence by protecting program data and ensuring data integrity
  • Troubleshoot defects related to new enhancements and production issues
  • Support system data requests, including reporting and ad hoc querying
