About The Position

Under Assistant Director, Development, this role provides high-level support to PMA’s Information Services Department. Responsibilities include designing, programming, and implementing custom-made business applications; communicating with technical and non-technical staff to collect business requirements and translating the requirements to technical computer specifications for application development; building forms in Java and Jasper report tools; writing PL/SQL packages and SQL queries; and familiarity with Oracle database or any other relational database. The position also interacts with QA to conscientiously identify and fix software bugs in a timely manner. Success in this fast-paced, complex environment requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision, excellent communication skills and a customer service approach to support internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business and systems, analysis, design and development with experience in a broad range of skills needed to support current business applications.
  • Excellent Oral and Written communications skills with the ability to interpret user requirements into functional and technical specifications, with its corresponding documentation.
  • Candidate must have excellent organizational skills with ability to work with minimal supervision. A working knowledge of office products MS Word, Excel, and graphics software programs is also required.
  • Ability and determination to learn new and exciting information technologies to develop and deliver internal business applications.
  • Customer Service oriented individual with strong people skills to support our internal and external customers.

  • UNIX or Linux
  • College degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Three to Five years’ experience in position with similar type of responsibilities in an Information Technology department.

Responsibilities

  • Has knowledge of analysis methodologies, relational database design (entity-relationships diagram); and applications security methodologies.
  • Java developer with emphasis on creating web applications. Must be strong in analysis and problem solving, experienced in Unix environment and have full expertise in Java.
  • Responsible for designing, programming, and implementing custom-made business applications.
  • Communicates with technical and non-technical staff to collect business requirements and translate the requirements to technical computer specifications for application development. Specifies logic detail, system test plans, prepares documentation, procedures and detailed documentation.
  • Builds forms in Java and Jasper report tools; writes PL/SQL packages and SQL queries; is familiar with Oracle database or any other relational database.
  • Sets and achieves personal goals for growth and acquisition of new technical skills, keeping pace with new developments in technology.
  • Produces and maintains technical designs and documentation relevant to assigned programming tasks
  • Interacts with QA to conscientiously identify and fix software bugs in a timely manner.
