About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Janitorial Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift custodial operations across a multi-building campus in Hartford, CT. This role oversees 20–30 unionized janitorial staff members and is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service delivery.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience supervising janitorial teams, preferably in unionized settings.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).

Nice To Haves

Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of janitorial staff across 80 campus buildings.
Assign tasks and manage shift coverage to ensure operational efficiency.
Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with cleaning standards and safety protocols.
Train and onboard new staff, reinforcing best practices and performance expectations.
Maintain inventory of equipment and consumables and manage equipment refurbishments and supply orders.
Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Supervise and coordinate event setups and response to urgent cleaning needs.
Maintain accurate records of schedules, inspections, and performance metrics.
