About The Position

Perform, as directed, cleaning and maintenance of both the inside of the building and the outside surrounding areas, grounds keeping and janitorial assignments at the corporate facility.

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIRED: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQ: A valid California class C driver’s license may be required, depending on the specific position.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year of industrial maintenance experience, or equivalent, including previous janitorial experience, is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Basic math ability.
Familiarity with hand and power tools, and gardening equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and procedures.
Familiarity with basic material handling techniques and equipment and proper lifting procedures (this may be learned on the job).
Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission, general Company policies, and procedures (this may be learned on the job).
EQUIPMENT USED: Typical maintenance equipment, typical warehouse equipment, typical cleaning equipment, typical gardening equipment, vehicles, and typical office equipment.
SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS: Ability to communicate orally in basic English.
Demonstrated basic skills in three of the following: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry (including framing) and roof repair.
Ability to work with cleaning and gardening materials and equipment.
Depending on the specific position, may require ability to drive a vehicle in the transaction of Company business. This requires a good driving record, and may require proof of personal vehicle liability insurance.
Ability to work from written orders, simple drawings and verbal instructions with general supervision while executing work orders and following jobs through to completion.
Ability to maintain self-control, deal effectively with management, company personnel and the public.
Ability to coordinate hand/eye/foot movement to safely handle and maneuver in/out trucks, operate vehicle controls, tools, walk and/or climb up/down ramp/ladders, lift and carry tools and supplies.
Ability to understand and accept directions, follow procedures and perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to work flow without loss of efficiency.
Ability to demonstrate satisfactory attendance as outlined in Company policy.
Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; ability to report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.

Nice To Haves

Ability to communicate in basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds.
Will perform one or more of the following functions depending on daily needs and/or assignments: Inside: Sweeping / vacuuming, mopping, washing windows, trash disposal, cleaning rest rooms and filling supplies, cleaning lunch room and conference room and filling supplies, cleaning the refrigerators in the beak room and conference room, setting up the conference room for meetings. Outside: Clearing weeds, sweeping, pruning/trimming shrubs, watering and trash disposal.
Will maintain cleaning supplies and equipment.
Will report any safety hazards, needed repairs and security issues.
Accountable for lock up procedure.
Following checklist will ensure the building is secure before leaving at night.
Perform main plant landscaping and gardening duties; maintain building grounds in a clean and orderly fashion (e.g., performing leaf blowing).
Perform main plant janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, floors and carpets, and emptying trash; ensuring restroom and break room supplies are maintained; ensuring general main plant cleanliness.
Work with clients who are assigned for vocational services as requested.
Perform related duties as required.
