About The Position

Immaculate Heart Parish is seeking a part-time janitor to provide routine, high-quality commercial cleaning throughout the parish facilities. We are looking for someone who has janitorial experience, takes pride in their work, and can commit to 15–20 hours per week. The role of the janitor is to create and maintain a safe and clean environment here at Immaculate Heart Parish. This person is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of the church building and entrance/exit areas. May include evening and weekend hours, as needed. This person reports directly to the Parish Administrator. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

High school graduate or GED
Previous experience preferred
Ability and mechanical understanding of use of equipment to include hand and small power tools, ladder, vacuum, use of cleaning and polishing chemicals
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Job offer is contingent on the successful passing of the mandatory background screening and completion of the VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” course.

Responsibilities

Cleans and maintains building facilities (upper and lower level)
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors using cleaning solutions, tools, equipment
Cleans bathrooms, including polishing fixtures, cleaning stall walls and doors
Cleans or polishes walls, windows, and building fixtures
Dust furniture, statues, windows, baseboards, etc. as needed at times this includes moving objects to clean behind or under
Gather and empties trash and disposes of in property dumpster
Assists with set-up or tear down of social hall space as needed
Inventory supplies and keep all supply cabinets and rooms stocked and organized, notify Parish Administrator of need to order materials/supplies and items needing repairs or replaced before on the last item in stock
Occasionally assist with polishing all the brass fixtures when requested
Occasionally sweep the outdoor walkways and other incidental seasonal tasks
Reasonable verbal communication skills and demeanor to properly interface with parishioners, staff, visitors and vendors.
