About The Position

The Janitorial/Maintenance worker assists in maintaining smooth operations of the facility, assists with the physical upkeep of the Community Health Center's buildings and properties; performs custodial activities; performs or facilitates necessary repairs and improvements to physical space; maintains the grounds with special attention to real or potential safety hazards; and ensures preventive maintenance, cleaning, repair, facilities maintenance, all machine processes, environmental, and building security issues are addressed in a timely and proactive basis.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of: routine maintenance and operation of HVAC System, to include air conditioning and heating equipment of large or commercial building;
  • Maintain mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards to ensure personal and employee health and safety;
  • Ensure conformance with OSHA standards; knowledge of material, supplies, equipment and practices used in the cleaning of buildings.
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation and care of equipment, tools and supplies related to cleaning buildings.
  • Attendance at evening or weekend meetings, events and activities may be required.
  • May require work on Saturdays.
  • A good driving record and possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Must pass background and credit checks.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED recognized certificate and two years of responsible work experience, that includes building maintenance, repair, and custodial services.
  • Janitorial: 2 years (Required)
  • Ability to Commute: Charlotte, NC 28217 (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the work of contractors whose services have been engaged to perform repairs or installations.
  • Respond to complaints about the building and report complaints to Facilities Manager.
  • Respond to all building emergencies during and after hours as instructed by Facilities Manager.
  • Engage in all preventative maintenance procedures to ensure longevity and proper use of equipment.
  • Able to perform minor repairs (i.e. patching holes in wall, changing light bulbs, wiring light ballast, unclogging toilet, etc.)
  • Able to work at multiple facilities as needed.
  • Work is performed with considerable independence/initiative under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Set up room/s prior to and after-hours meetings. Perform related work as required.
  • Dust all picture frames, cork boards and notice boards, etc.
  • Monitor overall cleanliness of the center.
  • Assist in Cleaning bathrooms as needed.
  • Fill all soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, as needed.
  • Vacuum, Mop or sweep carpeted areas, including hallways, offices, examination rooms, nursing station, Lab area and waiting areas when needed.
  • Empty all garbage cans on a daily basis and as needed.
  • Discard garbage appropriately.
  • Makes minor repairs to building, building equipment and furniture.
  • Sets up room(s) for meetings and special events.
  • All other duties that may be assigned.
