About The Position

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for performing daily cleaning of a community day service facility, including office spaces, common program areas, warehouse, Cafe and restrooms, as well as maintaining cleanliness in exterior areas surrounding the building perimeter.

Requirements

6 months of experience in the janitorial/custodial field (or completion of a janitorial/custodial-training program)
Highschool diploma or equivalent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee occasionally is required to sit.
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Cleans, sweeps, and mops floors as required by the cleaning schedule.
Washes mirrors, stalls, walls, sinks, and baseboards.
Vacuums, shampoos, and scrubbing carpets as applicable.
Conducts periodic buffing, stripping, and waxing of floors.
Cleans and sanitizes water fountains, telephones, and janitorial closets.
Uses the correct procedures for each cleaning task.
Follows manufacturer’s recommendation for use of all cleaning solutions.
Follows all safety procedures when operating equipment.
Informs supervisor of any equipment malfunction or unusual occurrences on the job.
Maintains equipment, supplies, and supply room in an orderly fashion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
