Lapeer CMH serves adults, children and families. Direct services are available to persons of any age without regard to race, religion, national origin or handicap. Consultation services are available to schools, courts, law enforcement and social agencies, and other agencies serving the people of Lapeer County. Job Description In-Jail Treatment -- The clinician will provide Jail Treatment services that include clinical assessment and evaluation, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and risk assessment. Mental Health Court – provides mental health clinical perspective, completes clinical evaluations, make treatment recommendations and assists with referrals for appropriate treatment and assists with treatment coordination and follow-up. Pre-booking and Post-booking Jail Diversion -- The clinician will enhance cooperative efforts with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Probate Court, and the local Police Departments. This will include cross-training for the law enforcement community that will support the diverting of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities, who have committed nonviolent offences or who are a danger to themselves or others, from inappropriate incarceration. The clinician employed will be required be available to provide crisis intervention and treatment during nontraditional, as well as traditional, clinic hours. Serves as the agency liaison to the to the law enforcement community. Attends community meetings and provides training.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related mental health discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Full licensure from the State of Michigan preferred, but will consider experienced or highly motivated, self-starting individuals with limited license.
  • Knowledge of local resources and a CAADC or development plan also preferred.
