About The Position

World Learning seeks an intern to support the implementation of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), a program funded by the U.S. Department of State. This position offers an opportunity to engage with U.S. and international leaders, learn about key U.S. foreign policy issues, and help forge international partnerships. The role is within World Learning's Global Exchange Unit, which manages a diverse professional exchange portfolio. The ideal candidate should have a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work both independently and collaboratively, and communicate clearly and effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders. An interest in working with people from other cultures and backgrounds and a positive, proactive attitude are essential. This position will primarily support the IVLP, the flagship professional exchange program of the U.S. Department of State. The intern will work with various IVLP teams to help make programmatic and logistical arrangements for foreign professionals and to support team-wide projects and tasks. The summer term internship will run from June 8 to August 21, 2026. The intern is expected to work 40 hours/week. Work will be completed on-site at World Learning offices in Washington, D.C. and remotely.

Requirements

  • Active enrollment or recent graduate of an accredited higher education institution
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Effective writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office (Word and Excel) and knowledge of virtual collaborative platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, Webex)
  • Ability to work under remote supervision
  • Proactive attitude
  • Acts as a collaborative and resourceful team player
  • Supports a culture of continuous learning and improvement through diligent program monitoring, data tracking, and reflection to ensure strong outcomes
  • Displays curiosity about World Learning and is eager to represent the organization effectively to external audiences, as required
  • Shows dedication to the organization's business development targets through ongoing program implementation and relationship building

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the successful implementation of in-person exchange programs in support of U.S. foreign policy goals
  • Supporting exchange program logistics
  • Supporting the preparation of program materials for participants
  • Drafting and editing documents
  • Updating databases and supporting budget preparations
  • Accompanying participants, as required, to appointments
  • Actively participating in activities to support team, organizational, and network-wide goals
  • Conducting research as needed to support the preparation of programs
