Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the installation maintenance and repair of the statewide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) network and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communication system as well as associated support facilities. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer. Install and construct ITS and LMR communications equipment and components including supporting infrastructure. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a variety of ITS, network and communications equipment using complex testing equipment and schematic diagrams. Repair copper-wired, fiber-optic and wireless communications systems related to ITS equipment. Respond to emergencies relating to problems and situations involving ITS and communication equipment outages and needs. Perform and document periodic checks and tests of assigned equipment. Maintain spare parts inventory and associated administrative paperwork. Install, maintain and perform on-site repair of mobile, fixed and portable two-way radio equipment.
