About The Position

Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS). Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems. May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
• 3 years experience in system analysis, design, computer programming. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
• Valid driver’s license.
• This position requires driving a state vehicle.

• Contract development and oversight
• Coordinating labor, materials, and equipment
• Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
• Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
• Standing-prolonged periods of time
• Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading

• To be selected for and continue employment in this position, the selected incumbent must maintain the security or integrity of the agency’s critical infrastructure and will be subject to regular assessments of criminal history and/or reviewed for connections to foreign adversaries
• Required to work weekends and holidays.
• Required to work hours other than 8 to 5.
• Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
• Employee may be contacted during off-duty hours to see if he or she can report to work within 1 hour for emergency conditions.

Responsibilities

• Consults users as the primary source of contact for ITS development and support.
• Coordinates and assists ITS designers and districts on system applications for software and hardware.
• Provides expert technical assistance and support for ITS.
• Assists programmers with system problems related to flow charts, diagrams and project design.
• Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, local area networks (LAN) and information security administration.
