Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS). Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems. May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

  • Analyzes, researches and recommends hardware and software needs, including assessing resources utilization and justification.
  • Assists programmers with system problems related to flow charts, diagrams and project design.
  • Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunication related problems.
  • Coordinates project schedule for the installation, implementation and upgrade of systems.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, local area networks (LAN) and information security administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
  • 1 year experience in system analysis, design, computer programming. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Valid driver’s license.
