About The Position

The Facilitator is responsible for delivering comprehensive curriculum aligned with CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications through a hybrid teaching model (combining in-person and virtual instruction). This role ensures participants develop necessary technical and professional skills to obtain competitive employment.

Requirements

  • Current CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certifications (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Must have valid OH driver’s license and personal auto insurance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of network topologies, hardware, virtualization, cloud computing, and security protocols.
  • Virtual Facilitation: Ability to "read the room" virtually, keeping camera-shy participants engaged and building community in a digital format.
  • Digital Literacy: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, virtual machine software, and collaboration tools (Slack, Teams).
  • Instructional Design: Ability to adjust teaching styles to increase competence of participants with varying technical aptitudes.
  • Communication: Engage individuals colleagues, and agencies in a positive, professional manner.
  • Relationship Building: Value the development of professional networks to connect graduates with local IT employers.
  • Organization: Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work in a hybrid environment without constant direct supervision.
  • Judgment: Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
  • Requires certification in CPR and First Aid as well as crisis intervention training, as needed.
  • Remote Readiness: Must have a workspace allowing for professional video broadcasting (reliable internet, neutral background, professional appearance).
  • Regular attendance (both virtual and physical) is a necessary and essential function.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Education, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of four years in IT, Technical Training, or Workforce Development.
  • Experience with virtual instruction platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) and Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Hybrid Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate workshop-style programming using a hybrid mix of:
  • In-Person: Hands-on hardware labs, group activities, and direct instruction.
  • Virtual: Live webinars (via Teams/Zoom), digital simulations, and remote lectures.
  • Virtual Classroom Management: Utilize digital tools to engage remote learners, ensuring they participate fully and do not fall behind. Manage breakout rooms, polls, and chats effectively to maintain high energy and attention in a virtual setting.
  • Lab Management: Create and manage a hybrid learning environment that enables individuals to practice configuration, troubleshooting, and security monitoring safely, utilizing both physical hardware and cloud-based virtual labs.
  • Industry Alignment: Speak the language of the IT industry. Use labor market data to ensure training materials remain relevant to current employer needs.
  • Inclusive Instruction: Create an environment that enables all individuals to achieve their full potential. Adapt technical materials to meet the needs of diverse populations, ensuring accessibility standards are met for digital/virtual content.
  • Student Assessment: Assess participant skill levels using online Learning Management Systems (LMS) and physical testing. Evaluate performance through quizzes, virtual labs, and practice exams.
  • Exam Preparation: Implement specific strategies to prepare students for CompTIA standardized testing, including computer-based testing simulations.
  • Support & Accountability: Identify the kinds of information individuals need to make realistic career decisions. Develop training plans that address employer needs and job-seeker capabilities.
  • Customer Service: Place appropriate emphasis on “excellence” and “speed of response.” Respond quickly to participant and employer requests via email, chat, or phone.
  • Compliance: Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, and local workforce development programs. Interpret current laws to deliver appropriate services.
  • Presentation Skills: Possess excellent presentation skills for both camera-facing instruction and live classroom settings. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to participants with different levels of skill.
  • Team Collaboration: Act as lead facilitator but encourage and engage participation from Career Consultants to support the holistic needs of the student.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate reports to document the progress of each customer, including virtual attendance logs and lab completion. Utilize Goodtrak to accurately input and summarize data.
  • Provide job coaching to help individuals maintain employment beyond successful case closure.
  • Assist participants in translating technical skills into resume bullets.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Teach and reinforce appropriate work readiness skills,
  • Enter case notes and related reports in designated systems.
