About The Position

For more than 55 years, Family Health Centers of San Diego’s (FHCSD) mission has been to provide caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved persons. FHCSD is one of the top 10 largest federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the country. We operate more than 90 sites across San Diego County, including 29 primary care clinics, 23 behavioral health facilities, 10 physical rehabilitation clinics, nine dental clinics, five vision clinics, four outpatient substance use treatment programs, three mobile medical units, two mobile counseling centers, two urgent care centers, and a pharmacy. Our staff provides care to over 227,000 patients each year, of whom 91% are low-income and 29% are uninsured. FHCSD provides care to all. Services include, but are not limited to adult care, chronic disease management, pediatrics, comprehensive women’s care including obstetrics, dental, vision, case management, physical rehabilitation, speech therapy for children, vaccinations, infectious diseases, behavioral health, substance use counseling and a host of specialty services including cardiology, podiatry, endocrinology, dermatology, among others. FHCSD also offers supportive services to those who are unsheltered and in need of intensive case management. The breadth of our clinic locations, services and programs has grown over the last five decades, making us the largest community clinic provider of health care to the uninsured in the county and one of the top 10 largest community clinic organizations in the nation. We are also the largest health care safety-net provider, largest school-based health care provider and the largest mental health provider in the San Diego region. Job Summary The IT Trainer – Workday Financials delivers information technology training to all FHCSD employees, with a primary focus on the Workday Financials ERP system. Training is provided in person and virtually for individuals and groups. This role also performs technical writing, including user guides and system documentation. This position is classified as an Experienced (Level 3) IT Trainer who independently performs the full range of responsibilities and applies in-depth professional knowledge to support enterprise systems. This is a temporary position that may be filled under varying contract durations based on candidate qualifications and Workday Financials certification. General Job Description The IT Trainer delivers information technology and enterprise system training to FHCSD employees, with an emphasis on Workday Financials. The role supports end-user adoption, efficiency, and compliance through effective training, documentation, and user support across financial and clinical operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge.
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job. Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in information systems and end-user assistance.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical and computer concepts to users of all skill levels.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Workday Financials experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage change and assist others through system and process changes.
  • Ability to multitask, remain flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain training materials for Workday Financials modules, including but not limited to Procurement, Grants, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, and Financial Reporting.
  • Deliver instructor-led in-person and virtual training sessions for end users.
  • Train users in the proper use of Workday Financials modules.
  • Provide in-person and virtual training for groups and individuals.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Workday Financials configuration and workflows.
  • Translate technical and financial concepts into clear, user-friendly training materials.
  • Support ERP implementations, upgrades, and system enhancements with targeted training plans.
  • Assess learner performance and competence.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review training quality, effectiveness, and user satisfaction.
  • Continually improve training programs and processes to meet evolving user needs.
  • Perform technical writing, including user guides, job aids, quick reference materials, and video tutorials.
  • Maintain training documentation and knowledge repositories.
  • Adhere to FHCSD security, privacy, and data stewardship policies.
  • Establish training schedules and delivery methods to best meet learner needs.
  • Provide technical assistance and end-user support as needed.
  • Assist staff in becoming more efficient through training and learning, helping to reduce manual processes.
