About The Position

IT Technician I Klickitat Valley Health is seeking a dependable and service-oriented IT Technician I to support the technology that keeps our hospital and clinics running smoothly. In this role, you will serve as a key member of the Information Technology team, helping maintain the systems, devices, and network tools that staff rely on every day to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. The IT Technician I provides frontline technical support across the organization, assisting employees with hardware, software, and system needs while ensuring our technology infrastructure remains secure, reliable, and efficient. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, values excellent customer service, and takes pride in helping others succeed through technology. At KVH, our IT team plays a critical role behind the scenes, partnering with departments throughout the hospital to ensure staff have the tools they need to care for our community. GENERAL SUMMARY: The IT Technician I maintains and supports computer technology for the hospital, including managing the IT department's “help desk” aspect of Health IT service and implementing and maintaining computer systems and network applications. The IT Technician performs a variety of technical support activities, including but not limited to: installing employee computer work stations, routine preventative maintenance for PC’s and printers, maintaining employee computer security access, providing help desk support, troubleshooting basic equipment and system problems/failures, maintaining IT databases for tracking equipment assets and file access, back-up/store/test the hospital IT systems, etc. The IT Technician demonstrates excellence in customer service in interactions with employees, managers/supervisors, vendors, etc., and collaborates with colleagues and departments throughout the organization to provide optimal computer/IT services in a professional, ethical, and knowledgeable manner. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Casual positions are not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • General knowledge of computer technology, both hardware and software systems.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite software.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, the ability to make good decisions, listen and accept advice from others, demonstrate maturity and good judgement, and the ability to work with regular supervision.
  • Promote/deliver excellent customer service to both internal (employees and management) and external customers (vendors and other third parties).
  • Perform various sensory requirements, such as vision, touch, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills, to perform tasks using computers, computer screens, keyboards, printers, copiers, faxes, and other office equipment.
  • Demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, vendors, visitors, etc.
  • Maintain a calm, composed manner in emergency/stressful situations, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, follows oral and written instructions precisely, and maintains a high degree of accuracy; risk of error could result in significant monetary loss and hardship for KVH.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills with the ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments.
  • Work in a stressful/demanding environment and take appropriate action to ensure accurate, high-quality work and to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the job.
  • Experience with using everyday computer electronic technology tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing, voicemail, internet/intranet) and organizing and storing work-related data, plus using printers, copiers, fax, etc.; and perform minor equipment maintenance, such as: network card installations, changing out hard drives, installing computer RAM cards/chips, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite programs, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word, is essential, as is proficiency with other software applications such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills desirable.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) years general computer/IT experience preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in an IT help desk environment preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting both PC and printers preferred.
