Couchbase is seeking a highly skilled and people-oriented IT Tech Lead to join our Raleigh, NC office. This role goes beyond traditional IT support—you will serve as a technical leader and systems owner, driving automation, scalability, security, and innovation across our internal IT and SaaS ecosystem. You will partner closely with IT, Security, Engineering, and Business teams to design and operate world-class employee technology experiences, while leading the adoption of identity-driven automation, workflow orchestration, and AI-powered agentic applications that enable the business to scale efficiently.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive IT systems or desktop engineering experience
  • Strong experience with Google Workspace Administration
  • Strong experience with Slack administration and workflow automation
  • Strong experience withJira & Confluence administration
  • Okta administration experience, including SAML/OIDC, group rules, lifecycle management, and Okta Workflows
  • Hands-on experience building automation and AI-driven workflows, ideally with Atlassian Rovo or similar agentic platforms
  • Expertise with macOS and Windows endpoints in enterprise environments
  • Experience with MDM platforms (Jamf, Workspace ONE, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, basic networking (TCP/IP), and endpoint security solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a passion for automation and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Act as the IT technical lead for employee systems and internal productivity platforms, serving as an escalation point and mentor for IT analysts
  • Own the architecture, administration, and lifecycle of core SaaS platforms including Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira/Confluence, and endpoint management tools among others
  • Drive best practices, standards, and documentation across IT systems, access management, and automation
  • Lead Slack administration and workflow automation, including: Slack Workflow Builder and integrations Automated IT, HR, and Security workflows
  • Administer Jira & Confluence, including user provisioning, permissions, workflows, and integrations with other systems
  • Own Google Workspace administration and build automations around this platform including: User lifecycle management Security policies, data governance, and access controls Shared drives, email routing, and collaboration standards
  • Design and build AI-powered, agentic IT applications using platforms such as Jira ITSM, Project, & Atlassian Rovo
  • Identify & execute on opportunities to: Automate IT support and self-service Enhance employee productivity with AI agents Integrate AI into ticketing, knowledge management, and workflow orchestration
  • Serve as the Okta administrator and subject matter expert
  • Design and manage SSO, SAML/OIDC integrations, user lifecycle management, group rules, and access policies
  • Build and maintain Okta Workflows to automate onboarding, offboarding, role changes, and compliance processes
  • Partner with Security to enforce Zero Trust and least-privilege access models
  • Oversee provisioning, configuration, and decommissioning of macOS and Windows endpoints
  • Lead implementation and optimization of MDM solutions (Kandji, Workspace ONE, etc.)
  • Support corporate network services, Zoom/Google Meet Rooms, A/V systems, printers, and endpoint security tools
  • Ensure endpoint compliance with security and operational standards
  • Own incident management and escalation processes via IT ticketing tools
  • Lead strategic IT initiatives, including tool migrations, platform upgrades, and automation projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align IT systems with business needs
  • Provide on-site & remote support to global users; responsiveness is key for this role.
  • Proactively look for patterns that can be automated or resolved to minimize the future traffic
