About The Position

The IT Systems Architect Senior Principal serves as a senior technical architect and leader in the development and implementation of complex, sector-impacting IT systems. This position provides technical leadership and expertise to cross-functional teams, ensuring the design, development, and support of systems that meet business needs and programmatic requirements. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

Requirements

  • Related Bachelor’s and 8 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 12 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
  • Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Technical leadership experience and capabilities relevant to the business.
  • Proven ability to form a vision and implement action plans to achieve that vision.
  • Ability to share and transfer technology across organizational boundaries to the benefit of sponsors and the business.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and management skills.
  • Experience with service bus technologies (e.g., Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS) and data architecture principles.
  • Understanding of system dependencies and technical architecture.
  • A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to cross-functional teams, ensuring the design, development, and support of complex IT systems.
  • Partner with project managers, chief digital architects, and functional staff to develop and deliver products that meet business needs.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, functions, business areas, and major suppliers to effectively support IT across the sector.
  • Develop and maintain measures related to technical performance.
  • Develop application and technical roadmaps for pillar applications.
  • Serve as overall technical point of contact for the project.
  • Provide technical stewardship of the development effort for the entire program, ensuring the solution meets programmatic and technical requirements within the allocated technical cost and schedule.
  • Understand the overall organization technical architecture and interconnectivity, including system dependencies, to ensure that changes to one system are properly assessed for their impact on other systems.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions that meet business needs and programmatic requirements.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Influence the design, development, test, and verification of systems.
  • Ensure proper application of process based on the size and complexity of the project.
  • Design and implement data architecture solutions utilizing service bus technologies to enable seamless data exchange and integration across the sector.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data consistency, integrity, and security.
  • Collaborate with data stakeholders to identify data requirements and develop data architecture solutions that meet business needs.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
