About The Position

The IT & Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day technology needs of Sarasota Arthritis Center (SAC) by serving as the primary on-site IT resource and the internal liaison with the organization’s managed IT service provider, Thrive. This position provides hands-on technical support, responds to IT-related issues and emergencies, and leads internal systems initiatives and technology projects. This role also serves as the internal owner for system upgrades, implementations, and optimizations (including SAC’s EMR platform, NextGen Healthcare) working closely with clinical, administrative, and vendor stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient system performance across all locations. This is a full-time, exempt role. Our scheduled work week is Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This role is able to work remotely; however, needs to be quickly available to be on-site at any of our locations for hardware troubleshooting or emergencies.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar role.
  • Experience working with a managed IT service provider (MSP).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and user-level system issues.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical users
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare IT security, and compliance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting healthcare, medical office, or regulated environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating IT or systems-related projects.
  • Experience supporting EMR or practice management systems, strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with NextGen or similar healthcare EMR platforms, preferred.
  • Project management experience related to system upgrades or implementations, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site IT contact for SAC staff across all locations.
  • Respond to and triage daily IT issues, system disruptions, and urgent technology-related needs.
  • Provide hands-on support for workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, phones, peripherals, and basic networking issues.
  • Assist staff with troubleshooting software, access issues, and system functionality concerns.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT perspective, including device setup and access coordination.
  • Act as the primary liaison between SAC and Thrive.
  • Submit, track, escalate, and follow up on IT tickets to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Participate in service reviews, incident debriefs, and ongoing communication with Thrive.
  • Translate technical updates and resolutions into clear, user-friendly communication for leadership and staff.
  • Identify trends or recurring issues and work with Thrive to improve service delivery and system reliability.
  • Support daily functionality of SAC’s core systems, including EMR, practice management, scheduling, phone, and productivity platforms.
  • Assist with user access, permissions, and role-based security in coordination with Thrive and system vendors.
  • Monitor system performance issues reported by users and collaborate on root cause identification.
  • Partner with leadership to identify system inefficiencies, workflow gaps, or opportunities for optimization.
  • Serve as the internal project lead for IT-related initiatives, upgrades, and implementations.
  • Lead planning, coordination, testing, training, and go-live support for system updates and enhancements.
  • Act as the internal owner for EMR system upgrades and optimization projects, including NextGen updates.
  • Coordinate timelines and deliverables with Thrive, vendors, clinical leadership, and operational teams.
  • Track project milestones, risks, and dependencies; communicate progress and issues to leadership.
  • Ensure system changes are implemented with minimal disruption to patient care and clinic operations.
  • Support staff training related to new systems, upgrades, or workflow changes.
  • Develop and maintain basic IT documentation, job aids, and system reference materials.
  • Identify recurring IT issues and recommend process improvements or system solutions.
  • Support standardization of IT processes and best practices across SAC locations.
  • Support technology-related HIPAA compliance efforts in coordination with Thrive.
  • Assist with access controls, cybersecurity awareness, and data protection initiatives.
  • Escalate potential security incidents or system risks promptly to leadership and Thrive.
  • Adhere to SAC policies, procedures, and SOPs related to technology and information security.
