About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to supervise the day-to-day operations and staff involved in the development, maintenance and analysis of assigned computer systems, networks, operating systems, databases and applications, a customer relations team, and/or a project management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, information technology, or related field required
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in a centralized Information Technology organization, to include lead experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; and provides progress and activity reports to management.
  • Supervises operations and activities involved in the design, development, maintenance, implementation or analysis of assigned computer systems, communications networks, databases, voice and data networks and applications; supervises the design, development, upgrading and implementation of new systems; and supervises and participates in the review, analysis and modification of existing systems and programs as necessary.
  • Coordinates projects, communications, information, and personnel to meet County technology needs; resolves technology problems; provides for system enhancements; ensures all work activities are in compliance with established standards, requirements, policies and procedures; collaborates with peers, customers, administrators, vendors, outside agencies and the public in the development and implementation of project plans, specifications, goals, objectives, strategies and time lines.
  • Monitors and evaluates assigned technology functions, systems, and activities; identifies technology needs, effectiveness, and operational efficiency; and makes recommendations regarding the development and implementation of programs, policies, systems, technologies, strategies and procedures .
  • Provides guidance, direction and information regarding assigned technology projects and functions; receives and responds to inquiries; resolves issues and conflicts; and provides detailed and technical information concerning system and technology standard
  • Assists in the development and preparation of the annual budget for assigned technology functions and projects; makes budget recommendations; and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Maintains an awareness of new applications, technologies, technical methods, trends, and advances in the profession; reviews professional publications, technical manuals, and websites to increase knowledge of network operations; and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.
