About The Position

Memorial Community Hospital & Health System, located in Blair, NE, is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our Information Technology team. This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and improving the organization’s core IT infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, networking, security systems, and end-user technology. The System Administrator will play a key role in supporting both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring system stability, security, and optimal performance across the organization. This position requires a passion for technology, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in IT systems and processes. This role offers a hybrid remote work schedule, with the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in system administration, system engineering, and end‑user support.
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux and open-source technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of virtualization, storage, and backup platforms
  • Expertise in Active Directory, Windows Server, Group Policy, Azure, Microsoft Intune, Entra and 365.
  • Strong networking experience with Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, SDN technologies, and network security protocols.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Skilled in cybersecurity concepts including threat detection, penetration testing, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, PCI, PHI).
  • Experience with PowerShell, or other automation and scripting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong documentation skill set.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an emphasis on minimizing downtime and improving user experience.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and high standards of quality and security.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI-based security and automation tools is a plus.
  • Healthcare IT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization stacks, and on-premises/cloud infrastructure.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra, Intune and 365 Admin centers.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, user provisioning, identity/access management, and security compliance.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise networks, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routing, switching, and VPN technologies.
  • Support virtualization and containerization environmentsImplement and maintain enterprise security tools including firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and logging.
  • Oversee system backups, storage management, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity operations.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and health; implement improvements to enhance reliability and speed.
  • Provide advanced Tier 2–3 technical support, resolving escalated issues and ensuring minimal downtime for end users.
  • Participate in cloud administration for Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments; support Microsoft 365 and related technologies.
  • Utilize AI-driven tools for diagnostics, performance optimization, and threat detection when appropriate.
  • Assist with IT projects including cloud migrations, automation initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Document processes, system configurations, and standard operating procedures per ITIL best practices.
  • Train IT staff and end users on system best practices, security awareness, and technology updates.
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties; provide remote and onsite support as needed.
