About The Position

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an IT Support Specialist to work onsite in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. This role involves onsite level 3/4 support during standard business hours (8 AM - 5 PM), though hours may vary based on project demand and client needs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting SMB clients across various environments and traveling to client sites as required. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support and oversight to business owners and managers in the analysis, administration, and support of desktop and networking technologies. You'll work hands-on with end users to install, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware and software, ranging from Microsoft Windows OS to networking equipment, across multiple environments. A strong customer service mindset and the ability to work across diverse client needs and projects are critical for success in this role.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of overall IT support experience.
  • 2+ years of recent desktop support experience, including installing, upgrading, and managing Microsoft desktop environments.
  • Experience working directly with end users in a client-facing capacity.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP protocols.
  • Experience imaging, updating, and patching laptops and desktops.
  • Familiarity with phone systems and mobile device support.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting SMB environments and switching between client networks.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Experience with remote desktop tools and remote support platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, wireless devices, firewalls/routers, printers, monitors, projectors, and peripheral devices.
  • Install, upgrade, and support Microsoft Windows operating systems (XP - 11) and Microsoft Office (2003 - 2024).
  • Offer technical oversight and guidance to clients in the testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of server and network components.
  • Support software and hardware installation, updates, and patching procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve break/fix issues for both hardware and software.
  • Support mobile device integration and remote connectivity.
  • Assist with desktop integration to Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP protocols.
  • Manage and document work through a ticketing system while keeping clients informed of project and task status.
  • Ensure excellent customer service through clear communication, follow-through, and responsiveness.
  • Adapt quickly between client environments with a strong “can-do” attitude.
