About The Position

The IT Specialist (Systems & Support) ensures reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s IT environment. This role blends hands-on end-user support with systems administration across endpoints, networks, identity, and collaboration platforms. This position partners with vendors/MSPs for escalations while owning daily operations, documentation, and continuous improvement. The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for supporting the integration and migration of the company's local and cloud network while ensuring adherence to the latest network security best practices. The IT Specialist will also promote innovative solutions to solve business challenges, provide technical support and education, and contribute to the company's software development and process improvement initiatives. Working hours are 6:30AM – 4:00PM but may be expected to work on off-hours as needed for tasks that may not disrupt working hours.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in IT support or systems administration within SMB/mid-market.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, basic macOS support, Microsoft 365 admin.
  • Experience with Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune/MDM, MFA, Conditional Access, and Exchange Online.
  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, VPN, Wi-Fi.
  • Endpoint security: AV/EDR, patching, BitLocker/FileVault, secure baselines.
  • Scripting fundamentals (PowerShell preferred) for automation and administration.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (Jira/ServiceNow/Freshservice/etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Backup/disaster recovery (Veeam, M365 backup solutions).

  • Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001).

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1–2 support (hardware, OS, applications, printing, peripherals).
  • Manage ticketing workflow, SLAs, and escalations; maintain knowledge base articles.
  • Onboard/offboard users (accounts, devices, entitlements, security groups).
  • Train employees on collaboration tools (Teams/Ring Central), security best practices, and device care.
  • Administer Microsoft 365/Azure AD/Entra ID (accounts, MFA, Conditional Access).
  • Manage Intune (or equivalent MDM) for Windows/macOS/iOS/Android: policies, compliance, autopilot.
  • Account setup, permissions, license assignments in Microsoft 365; maintains IT equipment and servers.
  • Maintains network/security infrastructure and software systems; supports migration to cloud; maintains in-house equipment
  • Monitor server health, storage, backups, and disaster recovery jobs.
  • Support switches, APs, VPN, firewalls; assist with VLAN/DHCP/DNS changes.
  • Maintain collaboration systems (SharePoint/OneDrive permissions & governance).
  • Coordinate with MSPs/vendors for advanced network/security incidents.
  • Implement privilege, MFA, Conditional Access, and data loss prevention (DLP).
  • Support phishing simulations and security awareness programs.
  • Assist with compliance framework and evidence.
  • Maintain incident response runbooks and asset inventories.
  • Create, maintain, and/or update SOPs, diagrams, asset lists, and configuration records.
  • Review invoices and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Identify automation opportunities (PowerShell, Intune scripts, M365 admin workflows).
  • Track and report KPIs; recommend tooling/process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
