About The Position

The IT Security Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in implementing and maintaining the organization's security systems to protect against cyber threats. This role involves technical knowledge to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical data. As a specialist in security, the Junior Security Systems Engineer focuses on safeguarding the organization's computer systems and networks from security breaches, vulnerabilities, and cyber threats. By utilizing a range of technologies, protocols, and best practices, they ensure the protection of both organizational and user data, maintaining its confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year experience in information security or related field - required
  • Basis knowledge of security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption - required
  • Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - required

  • Comp TIA Security+, CEH or similar certification -preferred

Responsibilities

  • System Design and Implementation: Responsible for assisting in the implementation of robust security systems and solutions to protect the organization's information assets. Additionally, the role involves ensuring that security systems are seamlessly integrated into the broader IT infrastructure, aligning with the organization's technical architecture and operational requirements. The engineer is also tasked with maintaining and updating vulnerability management tools and systems, ensuring they are effective in identifying and mitigating potential security risks.
  • Security Operations: Administers the organization's security monitoring systems, including Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms, Microsoft Defender (MDO, MDE, MDI, etc.) suite of solutions and perform regular security assessments.
  • Incident Forensics, Reponses, and Mitigation: Work in coordination with the Security Operations Center (SOC) team to ensure the swift containment and resolution of security breaches. This includes assisting with root cause analysis to identify how security incidents occurred and pinpoint any gaps in existing systems that may have contributed to the breach. The engineer also coordinates with other teams to minimize the impact of incidents on the organization's operations and develops, refines, and maintains incident response playbooks to standardize procedures, ensuring a consistent and effective approach to security event management.
  • Vulnerability Assessment: Responsible for participating in regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing across the organization's systems and applications to identify potential security risks. This process involves utilizing both automated tools and manual techniques to conduct thorough evaluations of the organization's security posture. The engineer ensures that all identified vulnerabilities and weaknesses are meticulously documented, providing a comprehensive overview of security gaps. This documentation serves as the basis for developing and implementing targeted remediation strategies to mitigate risks and strengthen the organization's overall security framework.
  • Collaboration and Communication: The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and compliance, to ensure security solutions align with business needs and regulatory requirements. They provide support for security best practices and assist in addressing complex security issues or challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement: The role involves staying up to date with the latest security trends, technologies, and threat intelligence. The engineer leads initiatives for continuous improvement in security practices, implementing innovative solutions to enhance the organization's overall security posture and participate in security audits and compliance assessments.
