About The Position

The IT Security Engineer II provides technical support for the installation, maintenance, and security of Local Area Network (LAN) environments. This role analyzes information assurance-related issues, supports vulnerability assessments, and assists in implementing security solutions to protect network systems. The position works under supervision and applies established technical practices to maintain secure and reliable network operations. Requirements

  • Approximately two (2) to six (6) years of experience in network security, information assurance, or related technical field.
  • Experience supporting LAN environments and implementing security controls.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability assessment and risk analysis principles.
  • Familiarity with network hardware, operating systems, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine network issues.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used security concepts and practices.
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow established guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field required;OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the installation and maintenance of LAN environments.
  • Analyze general information assurance-related technical problems and assist in resolving security issues.
  • Design, develop, engineer, and implement solutions to meet network security requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability and risk analyses of computer systems and applications throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Assist in evaluation of hardware and software, including telecommunications and peripheral equipment.
  • Install network hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Monitor data communications to ensure network availability and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine network and security problems.
  • Maintain a simple network environment of approximately 50 or fewer nodes, or support a segment of a larger network.
  • Follow established technical guidelines and procedures under immediate supervision.
