About The Position

The IT Project Manager leads end‑to‑end execution of approved IT projects, coordinating technical and business stakeholders to deliver predictably and on plan. The role translates approved business and technical objectives into actionable delivery plans, actively managing scope, schedule, risks, and dependencies to meet timeline, budget, and quality expectations. The IT Project Manager does not own portfolio prioritization, intake/funding governance, long‑term capacity planning, solution design, or operational ownership; the role executes approved, resourced work within established governance. This role is intentionally designed to emphasize delivery excellence within a maturing IT operating model, ensuring accountability is appropriately aligned to role level and organizational readiness. The IT Project Manager is expected to apply strong execution discipline, share delivery‑level feedback, and continuously build skills while operating within defined role boundaries. SCOPE OF TYPICAL IT PROJECTS: Projects may include delivery of approved initiatives such as application or data platform modernization, infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity controls/tooling, vendor deployments, regulated change initiatives, and enterprise rollouts. These examples illustrate delivery efforts supported by this role and do not change ownership for prioritization, design, or operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Information Systems/Computer Science/Engineering preferred); equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, with significant IT/technical delivery exposure (applications, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, and/or vendor platforms).
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional technical teams (Architecture, Engineering, QA, InfoSec, Infrastructure/Operations) and managing dependencies across systems/environments.
  • Ability to lead complex IT projects through disciplined planning and execution.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, risks/issues, and dependencies.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams in matrixed delivery environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and translate project details into actionable updates.
  • Ability to facilitate (virtual and in-person) and manage and motivate hybrid teams.
  • Ability to build trust, align teams, and manage conflict.
  • Ability to operate in evolving environments with incomplete information while maintaining execution discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively with third-party vendors and external partners.
  • Ability to apply Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches and use Atlassian and Microsoft 365 tools.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP (or equivalent) strongly preferred; Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other Agile certification preferred.
  • Prosci or other change management certification preferred.
  • Experience in banking, credit unions, or other regulated financial services environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and close out assigned IT projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables aligned to approved scope, assumptions, and constraints.
  • Coordinate project activities across IT teams, vendors, and business partners to ensure timely execution.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate project-level risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact delivery.
  • Apply PMO/IT delivery controls, including RAID logs, testing/UAT coordination, release readiness, approvals, and required documentation.
  • Accountable for execution of assigned projects, with scope and accountability defined at the individual project level.
  • Coordinate project stakeholders; clarify expectations, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate meetings, status reviews, and checkpoints to drive progress and resolve issues.
  • Report accurate, timely status to sponsors, IT leadership, and the PMO.
  • Confirm requirements and acceptance criteria with business owners.
  • Coordinate delivery training, communications, and readiness activities with business owners and change partners.
  • Escalate delivery decisions, tradeoffs, and unresolved risks through established governance and leadership channels when authority or clarity is required.
  • Confirm readiness after approval (e.g., scope, objectives, dependencies, delivery risks).
  • Escalate gaps or ambiguities that could impede execution through established governance.
  • Provide delivery‑level input to support intake, prioritization, or funding discussions, when requested.
  • Coordinate vendor activities as they relate to project delivery in alignment with project plans and contractual commitments.
  • Monitor vendor deliverables, timelines, and risks that affect project execution.
  • Escalate vendor performance issues impacting project delivery.
  • Complete close-out documentation, knowledge transfer, and hand-off to operations.
  • Capture and document lessons learned related to execution effectiveness and delivery risks.
  • Comply with all Workers Credit Union policies and procedures, including information security requirements and risk controls intended to prevent fraud and loss.
  • Participate in departmental and organization-wide initiatives and projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and credit union information per policy and regulation.
