About The Position

This position will perform all aspects of project management including project initiation and definition, project planning, project scoping, project delivery, and project closing. A Project Manager must also provide project leadership to IT staff and project team members. This position will work multiple projects simultaneously. It will facilitate and participate in technical and business discussions and requirements gathering sessions, provide project estimates, and manage project risks. The IT Project Manager must be capable of managing project stakeholders; plan, monitor, and control project costs; plan and deliver quality controls; manage project human resources; plan procurement management; deliver communication, rollout, and training project plans. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for all stages and types of IT initiatives for the Firm from proposal and requirements definition to project planning and implementation. Identify and assemble the appropriate project team members to fulfill defined project roles. Projects may include custom‑built applications, IT infrastructure and networking initiatives, third‑party system implementations, firmwide laptop/desktop deployments, and major upgrades to existing systems. These initiatives often involve cross‑functional collaboration with business teams across the Firm—such as Client Relations, Legal Recruiting, Human Resources, legal practice and practice support groups, Paralegals, Research & Information Services, Accounting, Facilities, Records, and IT Security. Provide a proactive interface between the internal business and attorney stakeholders and the internal technical staff to ensure effective definition and delivery of IT infrastructure and business applications. Responsible for coordinating project team resources to design, develop and deliver IT infrastructure and business applications. Responsible for coordinating internal resources with external vendor and consultant resources to ensure successful project deliverables. Provide day-to-day leadership and management of projects throughout the project life cycle. Ensure that the project team delivers project documentation. Where applicable, this includes requirements, design, testing, training, and communication documents. Create and manage detailed work schedules. Monitor and track scheduled work against actual work performed. Manage variances with the project team to avoid schedule slippage. Work closely with the business units to determine scope and requirements. Coordinate business resources to ensure a successful project. Facilitate technical work group meetings and technology deliverables. Document meeting minutes where applicable. Conduct regular status meetings and deliver detailed weekly status reports to management. Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure that the project deliverables are completed on time. Proactively identify issues and manage scope change through a project governance plan. Ensure project changes are managed and executed properly. Ensure the timely and effective delivery of solutions into production. Track project expenditures against budget estimates. Track budget expenditures against work progress to identify variance. Anticipate and communicate budget changes to project governance groups. Work within an established project management framework and help to improve that framework based on Firm needs. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Firm’s IT project intake process, managing new technology‑related requests—including demos, vendor inquiries, application proposals, infrastructure initiatives, and major enhancements to existing systems. Collect and validate project request details, assess business impact, confirm alignment with ongoing projects, and coordinate with vendors as well as internal technical and business stakeholders. Work with Firm management to track, prioritize, and route requests, ensuring timely evaluation and proper assignment of resources while maintaining clear communication with all involved parties.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related IT Project Management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in managing both infrastructure and applications projects.
  • Preferred experience applying frameworks and knowledge areas outlined in the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), including scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management, as well as a solid understanding of common SDLC methodologies.
  • Understanding of SDLC methodologies preferred.
  • Preferred certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), such as Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, demonstrating formal training and adherence to recognized project management standards and practices.
