About The Position

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for an IT Project Manager. The IT Project Manager is the face of the Information Technology group working with both Town and internal IT stakeholders to bring technology projects to completion on time and within budget.   This position provides value by helping stakeholders implement technology solutions following proven industry standard project management procedures to create efficiencies and help achieve the Town's goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Information Systems. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and / or experience
  • 3 years of Information Technology industry experience
  • 3 years of IT Project Management managing IT Infrastructure and/or application projects.
  • General working knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project.
  • Experience managing to deliverables and milestones.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships both within and outside the department.
  • Ability to travel within the town to different locations as project needs dictate

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closing of projects within the Information Technology Department of the Town of Gilbert.
  • Mange Scope, schedule, costs, risks, issues and change orders of assigned projects.
  • Works to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Establishes relationships with business partner stakeholders and Information Technology project resources to help guide projects to successful completion.
  • Work as the liaison between the Information Technology resources and the business partner stakeholders.
  • Lead a diverse team of Information Technology resources while tracking project budget, managing consultants/vendors, managing schedules, and providing project status updates.
  • Facilitates project meetings to include internal Information Technology resources, business partner resources and contractor and vendor resources.
  • Track issues and ensures resolutions as part of the project management process in Planview PPM Pro.
  • Create or update training documentation to support project goals using established Standard Operation Procedure documents or supplied vendor training templates and other resources.
  • Conduct training courses either in person, or via Microsoft Teams, in support of assigned projects.
  • Make process improvement recommendations across the Information Technology group to help create efficiencies.
  • Create, update, and maintain project details in Planview PPM Pro.
  • Provide updates to project status to stakeholders via Planview PPM Pro.
  • Help develop and mature the Project Management Office procedures.
  • Keep current on industry best practices and technology concepts.
  • Facilitate end user training on projects that require as much.
  • Other duties as assigned.
