The ultimate purpose of the Product Owner is to understand the Stakeholder needs and prioritize those needs based on business value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information science or Business Administration or similar field preferred.
  • Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships and working collaboratively with our global process owners and business partners.
  • Ability to drive accountability for product success through successful project planning, management, risk monitoring and mitigation.
  • Ability to understand business priorities and align technology opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Ability to motivate and set the direction for a (not direct report) team.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Product Owner preferred.
  • Experience working on enterprise grade shared system solutions preferred.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects in a large global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and prioritizes the product features and works with the development team to ensure they are delivered.
  • Owns backlog, backlog refinement and prioritization of stories and tasks.
  • Works closely with Program Manager to ensure short term work aligns with road map and vision.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand needs to make business decisions.
  • Available to the team to answer questions and refine direction.
  • Articulates the WHAT and WHY of the work.
  • Understands long term road map and vision and can make decisions that support it.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged through development/projects.
  • Adheres to processes to ensure backlog is visible, transparent, and clear.
  • Escalates issues quickly to stakeholders and Program Manager.
  • Challenges the team to obtain opinions and solutions for delivering committed work.
  • Proactively identifies impacts and dependencies and communicates as necessary
  • Constantly provides clear communication to Program Manager, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Accountable to the success of a product.
