About The Position

About Ford Motor Company & The UEV Team: We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. At Ford, we are building the Universal Electric Vehicle, and we are rewriting the rulebook on how software is delivered. The Role: As a Technical Program Manager, you will be the glue between leadership, business, and developers. But unlike traditional TPMs, you will carry a toolkit of AI agents to help you ship faster. You will not just manage the program; you will engineer the process. You will work with business stakeholders to translate vague ideas into rigorous technical requirements that are so clear, an AI Coding Agent could implement them. You will handle operational tasks—like vendor evaluation and PO management—by automating the heavy lifting. And for small features or bug fixes, you won’t wait for a developer; you will spin up an IDE and use AI to fix it yourself. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, organizational prowess, and the technical confidence to use AI as a force multiplier. AI-Augmented Documentation & Requirements: Stop writing from scratch. Use LLMs to generate PRDs, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and Executive Summaries from raw notes and transcripts. Translate business goals into precise technical specifications (e.g., Gherkin syntax, JSON schemas, or pseudo-code) that developers—or AI coding agents—can immediately execute. Hands-On Technical Execution: Act as a "Player-Coach" for small technical tasks. Use AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf) to handle configuration changes, minor bug fixes, or rapid prototyping without waiting on core engineering resources. Validate technical feasibility by running small experiments or generating code snippets to unblock discussions. Operational Automation (The "Boring" Stuff, Automated): Manage vendor evaluations, PO issuance, and budget tracking, but treat them as engineering problems. Use AI to analyze vendor data, compare quotes, and automate the approval workflow wherever possible. Build and maintain automated reporting pipelines that scrape Jira/GitHub to generate real-time team performance reports and risk assessments for leadership. Strategic Coordination & Leadership: Coordinate with leadership to provide high-fidelity updates, using data-driven insights rather than manual status chasing. Facilitate trade-off discussions between Product, Engineering, and Design, ensuring that the "How" (Technical implementation) aligns with the "Why" (Business value).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Product Management, or Software Engineering.
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to dramatically accelerate workflow (docs, analysis, planning).
  • Coding Literacy: You must be comfortable reading code and using an IDE. You don't need to be a senior dev, but you must be able to use AI coding agents to write scripts, fix bugs, or build automations.
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence (specifically automating interactions with them).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Automotive or EV space.
  • Background in DevOps, Scripting (Python/JS), or "No-Code" automation platforms.
  • A "Productively Lazy" mindset: A track record of automating repetitive tasks to focus on high-value problems.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and operational budgets.
