About The Position

Responsible for procurement, reporting and tracking related to hardware, software and services. Top level technical contributor with expertise in hardware procurement, research and testing activities. Responsible for providing guidance to the business on existing / future requirements and communicating with internal project and operational support teams. Devises and /or modifies procedures to improve vendor procurement processes, computer image creation and inventory control. This position will work as part of the Vendor Management Office, but will be required to work independently and negotiate directly with vendors.

Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in IT Procurement or related field.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education preferred (university/college degree)
  • General Procurement training, seminars, conferences a plus
  • Experience with hardware evaluations, testing and baselining
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, interpret, and disseminate data and information
  • Experience with contract reviews, vendor negotiations, risk mitigation
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • IT knowledge of major hardware and software providers and products
  • Ability to escalate and negotiate one-on-one with a vendor
  • Able to work independently, prioritize task and escalate as appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Review current hardware standards and work with business representatives to understand current and future requirements
  • Provides guidance to the business on existing/future requirements
  • Work with hardware vendors to align device specifications with business needs and perform adequate testing on potential replacement products
  • Review hardware and printer inventory to ensure assets are accurately tracked
  • Perform routine asset clean-up activities related to hardware returns, duplicate PC assignments, lost or stolen assets and the potential re-use of equipment
  • Facilitate the image creation process by working with internal / outsourced teams and hardware vendors
  • Document overall process and look to create efficiencies where possible
  • Negotiates directly with vendors
  • Includes negotiation of price points and pricing models
  • Optimize the overall printer, plotter and copier environment
  • Ensure standards meet business expectations and that company guidelines pertaining to user / device ratios are aligned with the current environment
  • Work with vendors on overall maintenance programs, coverage, support and costs
  • Review business hardware forecasts and current hardware inventory to determine procurement requirements to meet future business needs
  • Provides guidance to the business regarding needs and future investments
  • Provide lease vs purchase and life expectancy analysis on existing and new devices (computers, printers, servers and network equipment)
  • Perform RFP activities for hardware vendor and / or platform changes
  • Acts as the point of contact for internal and vendor escalations / disputes
  • Works directly with vendor and / or business to resolve dispute and escalate to internal management as needed
  • Review and communicate vendor roadmap strategies and future product availability
  • Provide monthly inventory, asset management and cost reporting
  • Provide and implement process improvement and cost savings recommendations
  • Maintains catalog of standard devices, maintenance and accessory options
  • Provide back-up support related to the procurement of IT software and services
  • Supervises Hardware Asset Management Coordinators
