About The Position

The Information Technology Procurement and Asset Specialist will oversee IT asset procurement, tracking, inventory management, and disposal. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with company departments to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of assets, maintaining compliance with company computer and network policies, and working with I.T. leadership to assist in managing and optimizing departmental budget to streamline operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT procurement, strong negotiation skills, familiarity with inventory management systems, and knowledge of industry standards for asset disposal. He or she owns and must understand contractual, commercial, and operational working relationships with vendors to ensure that contractual commitments are delivered across IT. Works with various entities (Finance, providers, IT, business units), as required to drive transparency around IT costs and consumption. Understands charging principles and publishes detailed cost-of-service (COS) to the business. Familiar with the IT strategic plan and proactively works with the business to help reduce IT services costs. Able to use cost-of-service pricing techniques to ensure maximum value for the resources consumed.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 or more years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory and tracking of computer products.
  • Must have knowledge of server, data/voice network, and desktop technologies.
  • Successful and demonstrated experience in quality and cost effective purchasing and inventory management.
  • Strong understanding of I.T. concepts and best practices, including network security, endpoint security, intrusion detection, and incident response.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Must be able to sit extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines.
  • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20%
  • Proficiency in Service Desk Ticketing and Asset Management systems
  • Proficiency in building reports using Excel or other applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Desktop platforms
  • Experience in Local and Wide Area Networks
  • Experience in Microsoft cloud offerings, such as Office 365, Azure, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Actively handles purchasing, inventory maintenance, asset distribution, reporting, spare equipment repair, shipping and receiving, price comparison, matching audit resolution, product evaluation and quality tracking.
  • Maintains an inventory of on-hand assets, including spare equipment, outdated equipment, loaners and evaluation products.
  • Recovers capital from outdated equipment that has outlived current company standards.
  • Supports and follows current capital coding procedures to ensure accurate capital tracking.
  • Tracks orders for computer hardware and software, and software licensing.
  • Manages information on all aspects of the procurement cycle.
  • Responsible for the tracking and accounting components of the service & maintenance programs.
  • Answers end-user and technician questions regarding pricing, specifications and product options.
  • Stages project-specific computer orders.
  • Develop, document, and make recommendations and communicate plans for financial operations with IT/cloud infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Keeping an accurate inventory and preparing computers for sale or redeployment.
  • Provide IT financial details to Accounting and lines of business in order to complete reconciliation of IT service accounts.
  • Understand IT vendor spending by category, cost center, region, and vendor.
  • Classify, rationalize, and optimize the vendor portfolio, and concentrate efforts on managing the most strategic vendors.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize dashboards to provide management with an analytical view of services data for cost-of-service, demand, cost-of-service pricing, and capacity planning
  • Performs other functions as required.
