About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking an IT Operations Manager to support the WEXMAC Camp Montana East contract in El Paso, TX. POSITION SUMMARY The IT Operations Manager manages and directs the work of an Information Technology (IT) Operational Unit, primarily including System Administrators and Network Administrators, in a 24/7 operating environment at a secure facility. Establish and maintain complex operational databases, software configuration control and system interfaces for computer system(s). Responds promptly to operational issues as they occur. Evaluates and recommends to senior management the feasibility of new initiatives in Information Technology based on mission requirements and priorities. Evaluates user requirements and systems functionality to ensure the needs of individuals and projects are met. Schedules upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems. Ensures the smooth running of all systems, including anti-virus software, print services, and e-mail provision. Ensures that software licensing laws are adhered to. Develops and manages IT security policy and procedures to ensure the integrity and protection of data from internal and external threats. Ensures users are provided with appropriate support and advice. Manages crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware and software problems. Mentors and trains new support staff. Attends technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software and hardware product developments. Performs research for appropriate hardware and software requirements. Writes reports/makes presentations to upper management on networking issues. Advises management personnel on new technologies and systems requirements. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 yrs IT operations-related experience or equivalent, including 3 years as an Operations Manager or as the unit’s technical lead
  • Possess ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Possess excellent communications and analytical skills.
  • Must possess verbal communication skills for continuous interaction with all members of the work unit, including management personnel and customer representatives.
  • Must possess written communications skills for producing documentation related to user support.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Management or similar discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
  • Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment.
  • Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors.
  • This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
