In this role, you will contribute to our mission by serving as the primary operational bridge between the Sr. IT Director and the technical team, ensuring reliable service delivery, regulatory compliance, and forward progress on our cloud-first strategy. As an IT Operations Manager working on the IT Services team, you will be empowered through meaningful work and career development to act as a senior technical and people leader responsible for execution, stability, and evolution of IT operations across corporate and manufacturing environments. A typical day will include- directly managing endpoint engineers and systems/network engineering staff while also acting as a hands-on technical leader and escalation point.

Requirements

  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID)
  • Azure infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, identity, security)
  • Hybrid identity and migration experience
  • Palo Alto Networks firewalls (policy, threat prevention, VPNs)
  • Cisco and Meraki switching, routing, and wireless networks
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy
  • Virtualization and infrastructure lifecycle management
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems, architectures, and security considerations
  • Experience supporting IT in regulated or highly controlled environments (FDA, GMP, SOX, etc.)
  • Proven experience managing technical teams with mixed skill levels. Create clarity of ownership and accountability across the team.
  • Strong operational judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to lead from the front technically while still scaling through others.
  • Exceptional communication skills with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning outcomes end to end.
  • Continue to reinforce and build a culture of documentation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Lead complex troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate and Partner with internal and external stakeholders such as Quality, Compliance, manufacturing, and external auditors as needed. Required to balance uptime, security, and compliance.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the IT Director on operational readiness, manage staffing coverage, and execution risks.
  • Help translate business priorities into actionable operational plans. Provide visibility into operational health, capacity constraints, and improvement opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Business Administration with an IT discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT specializing in supporting organizational IT programs and infrastructure.
  • 8 years of management experience leading a team of IT professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage day-to-day IT operations, ensuring uptime, performance, and predictable service delivery across IT and OT environments.
  • Act as the primary operational decision-maker, escalating to the Sr. IT Director when strategic tradeoffs or risk decisions are required.
  • Establish and refine operational processes including incident management, change management, patching, and system lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the senior IT presence when the Sr. IT Director is unavailable (vacation, off-hours, business travel).
  • Directly manage and mentor Endpoint / Helpdesk Engineers, Systems & Network Engineers
  • Serve as the backup and technical lead for systems and network engineering in a single engineer model.
  • Design and maintain resilient architectures across cloud, campus, and manufacturing systems.
  • Ensure technical decisions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term modernization goals.
  • Manage and optimize a hybrid environment including campus presence for Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Lead the transition of corporate IT services to cloud first architecture while supporting campus OT systems where required OT systems where required.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365, Azure infrastructure, identity, endpoint management, and security tooling.
  • Partner with the Sr. IT Director on architectural standards and long-term cloud roadmap execution.
  • Own network reliability, segmentation, and security across corporate and manufacturing environments. Manage and optimize Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco and Meraki switching, routing, and wireless platforms
  • Ensure secure connectivity between IT and OT while maintaining regulatory and operational boundaries.
  • Implement threat prevention, monitoring, and response best practices.
  • Support and protect SCADA and manufacturing control systems in regulated environments.
  • Maintain clear separation and governance between IT and OT networks where required.
  • Ensure IT operations meet FDA-regulated manufacturing requirements, including system validation and documentation.
  • Develop staff through coaching, mentoring, cross-training, and performance management
  • Continue to reinforce and build a culture of documentation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
