About The Position

Administer the Cisco network switches and wireless infrastructure equipment. Respond to support requests related to the IT infrastructure issues. Analyze and resolve Infrastructure hardware issues in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred. Associates (2-year) degree plus certification could be substituted with additional experience. Certification alone with more extensive experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements
  • 2+ years as hands-on Network Administrator supporting a large, globally-distributed networks, including data centers is required.
  • Applicants with an Associate or no degree will typically need 3+ or 4+ years of experience
  • CCNA: Routing and Switching (R&S) certification is required (current and valid)
  • This role will be Hybrid (3 days per week: Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday onsite)

Responsibilities

  • Administer multiple systems (Cisco switches, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers, DNS/DHCP on various platforms), and act as Tier 1 and 2 escalation point for the IT Client Services Team for issues with the LAN/WAN environment.
  • Work with IT Client Services team to setup printers and activate additional network ports for users.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and trace/correct faults in network devices and cabling.
  • Upgrade Cisco switch/route hardware to the latest recommended releases to mitigate security risks.
  • Manage IP address allocation and tracking in IP Address Management (IPAM) tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting at all OSI layers including routing issues.
  • Utilize IT Operations Management tools (SolarWinds, etc.) to monitor environment and respond to and resolve issues in a timely fashion for affected nodes, links, and sites.
  • Open and monitor vendor support cases.
  • Provide real-time support during changes as needed.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation for Network Operations groups as well as for network functional team escalations.
  • Opens and monitor support cases with our vendors as required, with a focus on Cisco TAC.
  • Ensure adherence to network configuration and compliance standards.
  • Create and update documentation and diagrams including use of Microsoft Visio.
  • Proven knowledge of Cisco LAN technologies, including routing protocols, VLANS and IP subnetting.
  • Working knowledge of subnet masking, TCP/IP, and various network protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco WLAN technologies including controllers, access points, Cisco Prime AND 802.11 fundamentals.
  • Good working knowledge of network cabling infrastructure and specifications including copper and fiber optic.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to prioritize the given tasks and finish tasks on time.
