About The Position

The Rotational Internship Program with Ascension Technologies is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity to gain "real world" IT work experience in a large IT service environment, supporting IT end users who work in a healthcare setting. As an intern within the Enterprise Applications & Platforms – Clinical Imaging area, you will be a vital part of the Clinical Imaging Uplift Program—one of Ascension’s top critical initiatives. Ascension Technologies aims to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop technical and customer service skills through various work assignments, gaining the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful professionals and potential Ascension associates. This role isn't about watching from the sidelines; you will help deliver modern imaging solutions that directly transform clinical workflows and improve patient care. As an Ascension Technologies Intern, you will be able to work on real-life and meaningful projects, develop your technical skills, collaborate, and network with various teams across the IT Applications, Infrastructure and Security continuum. You will work with the latest hardware and software to eliminate end-of-life systems and build a stable, redundant environment for our medical professionals. This work involves gathering requirements to understand stakeholder needs, defining models, researching evidence-based practice and outcome metrics, and receiving mentorship. You will gain rare, hands-on experience in Clinical Imaging and Enterprise Platform Management while being mentored by the best in the business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Communications, Organizational Development, Project Management.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic ITIL concepts (Change Management, Incident Management, etc.).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities and a knack for "breaking down" technical problems.
  • Project Tools: Comfort using project management or documentation tools to track tasks and progress.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to clinical staff during "at-the-elbow" support.
  • Agility: A "fast learner" mindset with the ability to thrive in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
  • General IT Skills: Proficiency with Google Office tools (meetings, slides, spreadsheets), spreadsheet formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Critical Thinking: A proactive approach to identifying risks during walkthroughs and discovery phases.
  • Practical analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Support: Staff the "Command Center" and provide first-level or "at-the-elbow" support to clinicians following system go-lives.
  • Infrastructure Discovery: Participate in initial site walkthroughs and hardware/software inventory discovery efforts to map current environments.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in testing and validating new imaging technologies to ensure stability and performance.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and update documentation to support the transition to the new, modern imaging environment.
  • Project Participation: Participates in technology-related projects, specifically the Clinical Imaging Uplift execution.
  • Shadowing: Shadows employees to understand different roles in the organization and gains familiarity with different healthcare IT systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with technical resources to perform root cause analysis and complete remediation of technology issues.
  • Improvement: Collaborates on driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals, utilizing ITIL concepts to help manage the lifecycle of technical transformations.
  • Translates Requirements: Translates functional requirements to technical specifications.
