About The Position

The Core Infrastructures department requires the services of a Physical Planning Technician to provide coverage for our West Coast US sites. In this role, you will report to the Physical Planning Manager and work as part of a larger team based in North Carolina and Spain. You will provide on-site support at the Los Angeles facility, as well as remote support for the Emeryville and San Diego sites, with occasional, planned travel to these locations if necessary. Your role will be to assist the team with planning infrastructure installation, changes, additions, moves and decommissioning of network and data center equipment. In addition, you will monitor the equipment to ensure network connectivity and access to data center servers is maintained.

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in IT field and at least 5+ years of infrastructure experience with data center and network equipment or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Experience with design of IT spaces and documentation of IT physical planning specs
  • Some travel to San Diego and Emeryville

  • Resolution of incidents in IT Spaces and Physical Planning environments
  • IMACD service (Install, Move, Add, Change, Decommission)
  • Networking cabling and electrical support
  • Updating and improving Physical Planning environments
  • Monitoring and managing power devices installed in IT Spaces
  • Suggesting and planning improvements for Physical Planning platforms
  • Acting as smart hands for certain changes and incidents (if necessary)
  • Asset management (audit, labeling, documentation)
  • Monitoring environment and reporting issues to Facilities department
  • Tape management (vaulting)
  • Auditing and reporting on IT Spaces
  • Project collaboration
  • Updating Physical Planning documentation
