About The Position

The FinOps professional will utilize a strong working knowledge of the FinOps Framework lifecycle to drive financial accountability, cost optimization, automation, and operational efficiency across out cloud and IT spending. This role drives the cross-functional collaboration required to bridge finance, engineering, and operations to ensure cloud resources are used efficiently, costs are forecasted accurately, and investments align with our business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in cloud financial management, cloud operations, and IT Finance, including tools for cost exploring, policy as code agents, savings plan optimization, reserved instances, and budgeting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and technical data.
  • Proven ability to automate reporting and cost optimization workflows using APIs and scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across technical and financial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles (FinOps Foundation certification a plus).
  • An ability and desire to practice continuous learning to stay current with cloud pricing and FinOps best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, Apptio, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, etc.).
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets and data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, SQL, or similar).
  • Prior experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) or business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud usage and costs across AWS and some secondary cloud providers.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to provide visibility into cloud spend and trends.
  • Partner with finance teams to improve budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, and usage optimization.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to align architecture decisions with financial efficiency.
  • Develop policies and guardrails for cost governance.
  • Act as the liaison between Finance, IT, and Engineering teams.
  • Educate stakeholders on FinOps principles, ensuring financial accountability is shared across teams.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership in a clear, data-driven manner.
  • Implement FinOps best practices, standards, and automation.
  • Establish chargeback/showback processes for business units or teams.
  • Track and enforce compliance with budgetary and governance policies.
