About The Position

The IT Field Technician is responsible for providing hands-on technical support at field locations, primarily focused on installing, configuring, and supporting network and hardware infrastructure. This role requires extensive travel, work in outdoor and rugged environments, and the ability to independently perform physical and technical tasks at remote sites.

Requirements

  • Hands-on hardware installation experience
  • Rack and stack experience
  • VSAT installation or support experience
  • Strong communication, coordination, and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Experience working on active field sites and construction-style environments

Nice To Haves

  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience
  • Structured cabling experience
  • Experience with the following technologies is strongly preferred but not all are required: Cisco and/or Aruba networking equipment VSAT systems Ubiquiti radios Microsoft SCCM and Intune Citrix (Workspace, Published Applications, and Virtual Desktops) Mobile device support (iOS enrollment, application deployment, OS updates) Active Directory (basic EUC concepts, user and computer object management) Group Policy (basic understanding) LAN/WAN networking concepts
  • Strong desktop support and software troubleshooting skills
  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 installation, upgrades, and feature updates
  • Microsoft Office application installation and troubleshooting
  • Hardware installation and break/fix support
  • General understanding of network communications and infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure routers and networking equipment at field locations, including deployments behind VSAT systems
  • Perform rack-and-stack of data center and field equipment, including DC gear
  • Install, splice, and connect network cabling (Cat5, Cat6, fiber, and related media)
  • Deploy and support VSAT and wireless radio solutions
  • Configure and connect UPS systems and related power equipment
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware, cabling, and network connectivity issues
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams and external partners during installations and service calls
  • Maintain clear documentation and communicate status updates to stakeholders
  • Adhere to safety requirements, including the use of FR boots, safety glasses, and other required PPE
  • Work outdoors and on-site in varying weather and environmental conditions on a daily basis
  • Travel extensively to support field installations and maintenance activities
