About The Position

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Director of Technology to support Reading School District. This full-time, on-site position is based in Reading, Pennsylvania, and offers a strategic leadership opportunity to drive the district’s technology initiatives, serving approximately 16,000 students across the district. Position Overview As a Director of Technology, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of Reading School District’s technology operations on behalf of GDC IT Solutions. This includes managing infrastructure, supporting instructional technology, ensuring cybersecurity, and aligning digital systems with the district’s educational and administrative goals. You will work closely with district leadership, educators, and GDC internal teams to deliver secure, reliable, and forward-thinking technology solutions that support both student achievement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Significant experience managing educational or enterprise IT operations in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of K–12 instructional technology and infrastructure systems.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity, data protection, and enterprise networking.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support IT staff.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards in education or public sector IT.

  • Networking: Cisco Meraki infrastructure.
  • Mobile Device Management: Jamf Pro Suite (Pro, Connect, Protect).
  • Cloud platforms: Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365.
  • Server environments: Windows Server, Linux.
  • Experience with K–12 content filtering and cybersecurity tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a district-wide technology strategy aligned with educational and operational goals.
  • Oversee the implementation, integration, and maintenance of instructional and administrative systems.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of network infrastructure and data systems.
  • Manage IT budgets, procurement processes, and vendor relationships for cost-effective solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor the district’s onsite technology team, fostering a culture of service and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Board of Directors, and GDC leadership to align technology goals.
  • Partner with educators to support effective classroom technology use.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Respond to technology-related emergencies, including after-hours support when needed.
  • Provide support to students and families for school-issued devices and tech-related concerns.
