About The Position

We’re seeking an innovative Information Technology Director to shape and drive the City’s technology vision. In this executive leadership role, you’ll oversee all IT operations and projects, set the strategic direction for technology, and champion enterprise-wide improvements that empower teams and enhance communication across the organization. As a key member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in modernizing systems, fostering collaboration, and delivering impactful solutions that serve our community. This position reports directly to the Assistant City Manager—giving you the influence and support to make a lasting difference. Targeted Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000 depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, IT Management, Project Management, Business or Public Administration and seven (7) years of proven experience as an IT Director or similar role, preferably in a government setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in successfully leading IT organizational change including transition from in-house application development to adoption of Enterprise applications or commercial off-the-shelf products
  • Track record of continued professional development and planning and overseeing staff professional development
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Approachable and relates well with everyone; builds rapport using diplomacy and tact
  • Practices focused, adaptable, and active listening
  • Comfortably deals with complex concepts and ambiguity
  • Customer focused, delivering a high level of service which meet the needs and requirements of each department/division
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials, department directors, and the general public consider all feedback and be open, flexible, and forward thinking regarding problem or issue resolution

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of an IT organization including data center management, on premise and cloud computing, database, networking and business automation sources of information related to problems of local government
  • Ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators and all associated software.
  • proficiency with computer hardware and software programs including word, spreadsheet and/or database applications, internet applications, and database management.

  • As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
