About The Position

The IT Director will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and management of all information technology initiatives within the healthcare organization. This role ensures that technology systems support clinical, administrative, and operational objectives while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. The IT Director will drive innovation, improve patient care delivery, optimize operational efficiency, and safeguard sensitive data through effective technology solutions. This role directly manages three key managers: Infrastructure, Applications, and Project & Vendor Management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a healthcare environment.
  • Proven experience managing IT teams and multiple functional managers.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare IT systems, EHR/EMR platforms, cybersecurity, telehealth, and compliance regulations (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Strong strategic planning and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across clinical and administrative teams.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.
  • Must be able to sit and stand intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with clinical, administrative, and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise IT Managers.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to identify technology needs and implement solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee IT budgeting, procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and best practices, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Monitor emerging healthcare technology trends and recommend tools that improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and organizational efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across all systems and platforms.
  • Oversee device management, including procurement, inventory, deployment, maintenance, and end-of-life replacement for: Clinical devices (e.g., bedside monitors, diagnostic tools) Desktop and laptop computers Mobile devices (tablets, smartphones) Network and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, routers)
  • Develop and maintain a device replacement and lifecycle plan, ensuring hardware is upgraded proactively to reduce downtime and support operational continuity.
  • Ensure projects and vendor activities comply with HIPAA, security standards, and organizational policies.
  • Support risk assessments, audits, and documentation related to IT systems and vendors.
  • Promote best practices for data security, system reliability, and patient safety.
