We offer career opportunities where you can contribute and grow. Our Business Intelligence & Data Management department is undergoing an exciting transformation. As part of this evolution, all associates are enhancing their skills and adopting modern tools including DBT, Python, and SQL, to better support data-driven decision-making across the organization. We are currently seeking an experienced developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building robust and scalable data pipelines that empower our business users with reliable, actionable insights, providing peace of mind through data-informed decisions. To ensure active engagement in meetings, it is mandatory for all IT associates to have cameras turned on for all interactions with other associates, customers, and stakeholders. Your camera must be on and positioned correctly to clearly show your face. This practice is crucial for maintaining connection and engagement, as non-verbal cues are essential for effective communication. Work location and flexibility are subject to change based on evolving business needs, but generally, selected candidates who reside: within 50 miles of Headquarters may be expected to work in a hybrid capacity, combining remote and onsite work when business needs necessitate. more than 50 miles from Headquarters must be flexible and available to travel to Fairfield, OH, on an occasional basis for special events, training sessions, or key meetings.

Requirements

  • proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes
  • experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment concepts (CI/CD)
  • demonstrated experience using GitHub for version control, collaborative development, and code review workflows in a team-based environment
  • Proficiency in using Visual Studio Code as a development environment, including debugging tool to streamline coding workflows
  • experience working with Snowflake for scalable data warehousing, including designing and optimizing data pipelines and leveraging its features for performance and security
  • proven experience distilling business requirements into data warehouse design artifacts such as a Facts Qualifier Matrix (FQM), source to target maps and star/snowflake schema data models
  • understanding of enterprise technical landscape
  • knowledge of developing BI dashboards; creating data quality scorecards and data lineage
  • experience with agile teams
  • mentor development team members in design and development of BI solutions
  • strong team working skills, an analytical nature, self-motivated and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to comprehend technical and logical concepts and adapt quickly to changes
  • ability to maintain own workflow and meet deadlines while managing parallel project deliverables with minimal direction
  • ability to create effective visual models to enable collective understanding of processes, data flow, user interaction and others as needed
  • prior reporting application support experience
  • track record of successfully architecting small, medium and enterprise-scale solutions

  • preferred tools for ETL/ELT processes: Current platform:( IBM's DataStage, SQL, SAS, Python) Moving to new platform (Python, DBT, SQL, Power BI)
  • property and casualty insurance background a plus
  • preferred tools for BI dashboards: Current platform: IBM's Cognos, moving to new platform of: Microsoft's Power BI
  • three or more years of business requirements experience

Responsibilities

  • develop reliable, reusable, automated and streamlined ETL/ELT code
  • analyze and organize raw data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements
  • design table structures and ETL/ELT to build performant data solutions that are scalable in a fast growing data ecosystem
  • create reconciliation procedures and data checks to ensure data quality
  • build in automated audit, balancing and controls
  • provide production support, including technical assistance to end-user and IT staff
  • Assist and/or lead user requirements gathering and documentation designs
  • proactively conduct data investigations and assist business partners with complex data analysis and ad-hoc queries
  • participate and/or lead application and technical architecture analysis, design and implementation, and ensure BI product fulfills requirements
  • lead efforts with data management and database specialists to troubleshoot and report issues
  • design new reporting applications to ensure reporting requests can be supported by the underlying data source
  • adhere to all metadata management and data quality standards by leading quality management reviews
  • understand configuration dependencies and interrelationships between data warehouse and business intelligence tools and designs; troubleshoot in the area with this knowledge
  • proactively identify, build and maintain relationships with business process owners and colleagues
  • identify changes in scope or work effort that could result in budgetary overrun or missing of delivery date, design and implement contingency
  • demonstrate expert problem solving capabilities
