About The Position

The IT Desktop Support - Specialist monitors and coordinates overall team activities, with a specific focus on major initiatives, facility moves, and VIP requests. This role assists the manager with coaching and educating employees, and validates that all work delivered by the End User Computing Team meets customer expectations. The Specialist also acts as the End User Computing point of escalation when the team manager is unavailable. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Must have 6 years of experience in a large, enterprise IT operations environment.
  • Must have experience in managing technology implementations.
  • Must be able to effectively plan and execute end user technology implementations for Parkland.
  • Must be able to work closely with executive level leadership throughout the hospital to understand their requirements for equipment deployments and installations.
  • Based on customer requirements, must be able to develop multiple solution options and explain the options clearly and completely to the customer.
  • Must have the ability manage multiple workflows and ensure that work is quality checked and on-schedule.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other Parkland departments who are jointly responsible for technology implementations (e.g. Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Police, IT Systems Engineering)
  • Must be detailed oriented and be able to demonstrate the ability to properly document the status of any end user imitative or deployment.
  • Must have effective communications skills in order to interact with customers and internal IT staff members.
  • Must have ability to troubleshoot, identify and resolve problems regarding end-user devices and peripherals.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of end-user operating systems, hardware and software currently used at Parkland.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of network and telecommunications concepts.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain operational processes and standards
  • Must be able to identify root cause for issues and incorporate findings into process improvement.

  • Prefer a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification.
  • Prefer a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification.
  • Prefer a CompTIA A+ certification.
