About The Position

The IT Database Management Supervisor is responsible for the strategic leadership, direct supervision, and operational excellence of enterprise database platforms and personnel. This role provides managerial oversight for database administrators, reporting platform administrators, and database architects, ensuring database and reporting environments are reliable, secure, performant, and compliant with regulatory and organizational standards. The Supervisor translates application, analytics, and operational requirements into stable database services while balancing day to day operations with continuous improvement, modernization, and architectural alignment. Responsibilities

Provides direct supervision for database analysts, administrators, and architects, including workload planning, task prioritization, performance management, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
Participates in hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and termination activities in accordance with organizational policy.
Establishes role clarity, escalation paths, and on call expectations across database administration, reporting platforms, and database architecture functions.
Ensures staff have the skills, tools, and standards required to support mission critical systems.
Oversees the operation, availability, performance, and security of enterprise database platforms across production, test, and development environments.
Accountable for database backup, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and capacity planning strategies.
Ensures database environments meet defined service levels and regulatory requirements.
Directs incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to database or reporting platform outages.
Provides managerial oversight for database architects, ensuring architectural designs align with enterprise standards, security requirements, scalability needs, and application roadmaps.
Actively participates in and approves database architecture, schema design, and platform design reviews.
Ensures architectural decisions balance long term sustainability with current operational needs.
Oversees database analysts, ensuring they are enabling effective use of the reporting platforms and the databases that support reporting.
Coordinates with analytics, reporting, and data teams to ensure reporting platforms are operationally sound and production ready.
Ensures reporting environments do not negatively impact transactional systems.
Participates in planning and execution of database related projects, including upgrades, patching, migrations, cloud/hybrid initiatives, and tooling implementations.
Ensures database and reporting platform changes follow change management, release management, and operational readiness standards.
Collaborates with infrastructure, application, security, enterprise architecture, and analytics teams on cross functional initiatives.
Ensures compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
