About The Position

The Core Systems Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the administration of the Fiserv DNA core banking platform and associated systems. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in daily operations to ensure system stability, efficiency, and alignment with business needs. Key responsibilities include managing system upgrades, coordinating complex configuration changes, vendor management, optimizing performance, overseeing the resolution of business disruptions, and driving continuous improvements. Collaboration is essential-you will work closely with teams across the organization including lending, accounting, retail operations, IT, and project management to drive Rally’s strategic initiatives. Success in the role demands a strong understanding of credit union processes and proven leadership skills to develop impactful results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or related field. Equivalent I.T. experience, in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • 6 years of progressive experience in information technology must include 2 years’ enterprise system administration.
  • 3 years of experience in management.
  • Must possess CompTIA Security+ certification or obtain within 180 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
  • Demonstrated strength in creating business strategies and driving results across internal teams and/or external partners.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to translate technical jargon for non-technical peers.
  • Must be highly organized and possess exemplary time management skills in order to manage projects that are wholly or in part the responsibility of the managed team.
  • Position involves wrist/hand manipulation; good visual acuity for detail work; ability to bend stoop on a regular basis; reach overhead and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitors and review of documents.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, means of transportation and be able to travel independently.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must have a strong ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Must have a strong ability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.

  • PC’s and printers, telecommunications equipment, calculator, fax and copy machine.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure as applied both in high volume business processing environments and in consumer-oriented businesses.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, enterprise network design, and storage area networks.
  • Fundamental knowledge of current Microsoft desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily administration, maintenance, and enhancement of the Fiserv DNA core banking system.
  • Lead of a team of System Administrators supporting system integrations, upgrades, and vendor coordination to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and maintain core strategic plan ensuring all core system software and hardware environments meet the current and future business needs.
  • Oversee the daily implementation of operating procedures, ensuring compliance with business objectives.
  • Take leadership role in organizational projects ensuring on time delivery of required resources.
  • Work with project management to align staff with project schedules and ensure change management processes are followed.
  • Review core systems security and business continuity plans making the necessary adjustments required to meet operational requirements.
  • Direct and manage vendor operations, including service delivery, performance tracking, compliance oversight, and issue resolution to maintain efficient and uninterrupted business processes.
  • Routinely review system audit reports, system security reports, and system performance reports on a regular basis and propose corrective action plans to supervisor.
  • See that the approved plan is validated and deployed properly and within a timely manner.
  • Continually improve operational efficiency by managing the deployment, daily operations, and maintenance of core systems infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the implementation and testing of all core system administration and maintenance plans with other affected credit union staff.
  • Work with IT Technical Writer to develop procedures for the maintenance, installation, and deployment of all managed systems.
  • Provide instruction and assistance to other staff on how to follow these policies and procedures.
  • When system complexity dictates, develop procedures independently.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators for all managed systems ensuring optimal performance, security, and data integrity.
  • Develop and apply patch management schedules and work with the Security team to define prioritization.
  • Work with other Information Technology teams, other credit union staff, and third-party vendors to conduct annual Business Recovery testing.
  • Hold bi-weekly staff meetings (at minimum) to identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, issues, and project statuses.
  • Ensure that all employees are thoroughly trained on all managed systems through available and approved educational resources for all aspects of their job.
  • Responsible for approval of all absences, annual leave, and overtime for the staff reporting directly.
  • Works collaboratively with direct reports to support the career progression and development of the core team helping them realize their potential.
  • Ensure self and staff adhere to credit union policies and procedures.
  • Work with leadership to develop and maintain strategic plans.
  • Work with leadership to develop annual budget requirements.
  • Serve as escalation point for critical issues during and outside of regular business hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.
